A large park in the city center of Barcelona is Ciutadella Park. Ciutadella Park was originally one of the largest fortresses in Europe and was built for surveillance by the Central Government of Spain, which won the siege of Barcelona in the 18th century by the Spanish Succession War. The fortress was abolished in 1868 with the resignation of Isabel II in 1868, and was converted into a park at the 1888 Barcelona World Exposition. There are many facilities for families such as the Barcelona Zoo in the park, but there are also fortresses and triumphal arches that can be said to be heritage of the time, so you can enjoy it as a sightseeing. |
