The shrine that was built in 1877 to enshrine Sakai Tadakatsu, the former feudal lord, is the Shonai Shrine. The Shonai Shrine was built on the site of the former Honmaru of Tsurugaoka Castle, and is nicknamed "Jinjahan" and is loved by local citizens. There is also a treasure hall in the precincts, where the weapons and treasures dedicated by the Sakai family are displayed. It is also a famous place for cherry blossoms in spring and is visited by many cherry blossom viewing visitors. On August 15th in summer, a festival is held and a daimyo procession is held, so it is also a facility with many tourists from outside the prefecture. If possible, it may be a good idea to visit during such an event and experience a different atmosphere from a normal shrine. |
