The Uesugi Memorial Hall was built on the site of Ninomaru in Yonezawa Castle. The Uesugi Memorial Hall was built in 1896 as the residence of Count Uesugi Mochinori, but was destroyed by fire in 1919 and then rebuilt in 1925. The highlight of the Uesugi Memorial Hall is the Japanese garden that imitates the Hamarikyu Gardens in Tokyo, and its beauty is one of the three great gardens of Yonezawa. It is also designated as a national registered tangible cultural property. The Uesugi Memorial Hall is a restaurant that serves Yonezawa's local cuisine, and it is a facility where you can feel the history of food as well as the building. |
