Sightseeing Guide
West Pier is a pier that extends from the coast to the sea.
West Pier is a pier with a total length of 105m and was built in 1938. Originally, it was developed as a port for islanders to go to the agricultural land on Iriomote Island on the opposite bank, and in recent years it has also been used as a fishing pier. In 2005, it was registered as a national tangible cultural property. Although this West Pier is no longer used nowadays, it is known as a tourist spot where you can see the sunset. By the way, the recommended time zone for the sunset in summer is around 19:30.
West Pier is surrounded by an emerald green sea, and it is often said that you can feel like you are floating on the sea, especially when you go to the tip of the pier. Also, because of this beauty, it has been used in commercials and movies, and many people may have seen it.
