The exterior does not look like a typical temple we know, but Kihoin is the southernmost temple in Japan. Kihoin Shushukan is a facility museum that is built alongside Kihoin. At Kihoin Shushukan, living tools that have actually been used on Taketomi Island are on display, and the collection is about 4000 items. In addition to stamps from the Ryukyu era and vases that are believed to have been burned in the 15th and 19th centuries, old looms are on display, and some are designated as nationally registered tangible folk cultural properties. It's a place, but at first glance it doesn't look like a temple, so you may pass by, but don't miss it because it's near Nitta Kanko, which is famous for buffalo. |
