| The Tuileries Garden is a large park located in the heart of Paris. Originally created as the gardens for the Tuileries Palace, the park remains today even though the palace itself burned down long ago. With its expansive grounds filled with lawns and trees, it is a popular spot where locals and tourists alike come to relax. Its central location offers views of various Parisian landmarks. First, there is the magnificent main gate; beyond it lies the Place de la Concorde, where the obelisk—a symbol of the square—stands in clear view. Further still, the Champs-Élysées, Paris's famous main avenue, stretches out, leading the eye to the majestic Arc de Triomphe standing atop the rise at the far end. These landmarks align in a straight line with the fountain in the park's iconic central plaza, creating a spectacular vista where they can all be viewed together. In the distance, one can also see the Eiffel Tower; the sight of the tower rising above the green trees is a magnificent view unique to this park. Beyond these scenic vistas, the Tuileries Garden offers entertainment options, such as a Ferris wheel. Benches in the fountain plaza provide a perfect place to rest during a sightseeing tour. The park is particularly convenient as a base for exploring the city, as it is directly connected to Metro Line 1—a route frequently used by tourists—and features one of the few public restrooms (fee-based) in central Paris. |
