The Vancouver Art Gallery is a large museum located in downtown Vancouver with convenient transportation access. The Vancouver Art Gallery was opened in 1931 by local business people and moved to its current location in 1983. The heavy neoclassical building uses what was originally used as a courthouse. Many of Canada's leading painters, Emily Carr, are on display, as well as paintings, sculptures and photographs by local British Columbia artists. In addition to the permanent exhibitions, temporary exhibitions are also held frequently, so this is also a museum that you can enjoy. |
