Nostalgic spot guide
The national stadium reigned as a representative of Japanese stadiums until the new national stadium was created.
The National Stadium has been used not only as the main venue for the 1964 Tokyo Olympics, but also as the 1991 World Championships in Athletics. Soccer is especially closely related to the National Stadium. In addition to the final of the Emperor's Cup held on New Year's Day every year, many important games such as the Japan national team's game have been held.
The national stadium is often used for purposes other than sports, and many concerts have been held.
However, it was decided to rebuild at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, and the curtain will end on May 31, 2014. (Photo: Taken in August 1996)
