Eiffel Tower

The Eiffel Tower is one of Paris's most iconic landmarks. Built for the 1889 World's Fair, it was designed—as the name suggests—by Gustave Eiffel. It is widely admired for its structural design, which utilizes principles of mechanics, and for the fact that such a massive structure was completed in just two years and two months. Although there was talk of dismantling it after the World's Fair, it was repurposed as a communications tower; consequently, it was never torn down and remains standing today.
The elevator to the observation deck is popular—partly because it is a rare type that ascends diagonally—but be prepared for long lines.
Standing 321 meters tall, the Eiffel Tower is virtually the only high-rise structure in the city center, where building height restrictions are strictly enforced. As a result, it is visible from almost anywhere in Paris. There are several recommended spots for spectacular views; one is the area near the Palais de Chaillot. Situated on slightly elevated ground, the Palais de Chaillot offers a view looking down at the tower. Descending the stairs beside the palace leads to a park featuring fountains, where the combination of the park and the Eiffel Tower makes for a perfect photo opportunity.
Conversely, the tower's observation deck offers a panoramic view of the city, allowing you to see famous landmarks like the Arc de Triomphe, the Louvre Museum, Sacré-Cœur Basilica, and Les Invalides from a unique perspective.
Another classic spot is the Champ de Mars, a large grassy park located right in front of the Eiffel Tower. The contrast between the green lawn, the tower, and the blue sky is striking.
A short walk away, the Passerelle Debilly (Debilly Footbridge) offers views of the Seine River and the Eiffel Tower. Alternatively, taking Metro Line 6 provides a hidden gem of a view: the scenery visible from the train as it crosses the bridge over the Seine between Passy and Bir-Hakeim stations.
Finally, my personal favorite spot is the observation deck of the Montparnasse Tower. The view of the Eiffel Tower from here, with the skyscrapers of La Défense stretching out in the background, is magnificent. There are countless other spots across Paris where you can see the Eiffel Tower, so keep an eye out for it as you explore the city!
