At Maria Theresia Square, the building on the right side of the Museums Quartier Vienna is the Museum of Natural History Vienna. The Museum of Natural History exhibits a vast collection of all natural sciences owned by Maria Theresia's husband, Franz I. Among them, the highlights are the huge topaz weighing 117 kg and the bouquet of jewels that Maria Theresia is said to have given to her husband's birthday present. Also on display are Hallstatt cultural relics, which are important for understanding Austria's history, and the "Venus of Willendorf" statue, excavated from the Wachau Valley, around 25,000 BC. |
