Is it Western style? Is it Japanese style? The Yamagata City Folk Museum has an impressive appearance that makes you confused. The Yamagata City Folk Museum was built in 1878 as the Yamagata Prefectural Hospital, and after being transferred to the private sector, it was used as the Yamagata City Hospital Saiseikan in 1904. The characteristic circular building has unique shapes such as hexadecagon, tetradecagon, and octagon, and this is called a pseudo-Western-style building and is the highlight. In addition, although the exterior is three-story, the interior is unusually four-story, which is a major feature. Originally it was a building in a different place, but in response to being designated as a national important cultural property in 1966, it was relocated and restored in Kajo Park, and it will be opened to the public as the current Yamagata City Folk Museum. .. Against this background, the Yamagata City Folk Museum displays materials related to Yamagata's hometown and history, as well as medical materials related to the former Saiseikan. |
